Switch Africa Green Ministerial Roundatable during AMCEN, 15 June 2017

Under the auspices of the 16th African Ministerial Conference on Environment session (AMCEN 16), SWITCH Africa Green is organizing a Ministerial Dialogue on Thursday 15th June, 2017 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Libreville, Gabon under the theme: ‘Enabling Green Business Development in Africa.’ The session will be moderated by Ms. Juliette Biao Koudenoukpo, Director of Africa Office, UN Environment and will include ministers from the 7 SWITCH Africa Green pilot countries (Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, South Africa and Uganda). This Dialogue will provide an opportunity for the ministers to share their views on the enabling environment for green business development in Africa. The ministers will also share their assessment on the opportunities and challenges faced by the micro small and medium enterprises in greening their businesses in Africa. Mr Klaus Rudichauser, Director General for Development Cooperation, European Union is scheduled to attend and give the opening remarks at the event.

This shall be followed by a Q&A session where the audience and the media shall field their questions. In addition, the Ministerial Dialogue will feature the launch of two reports: Accelerating sustainable development in Africa; and Youth X-change Training Kit on responsible consumption for Africa. SWITCH Africa Green will also conduct an exhibition showcasing various innovations from participating enterprises.

The Sixteenth Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) is hosted by the Government of Gabon from June 12-16, 2017,  under the theme: "Investing in Innovative Environmental Solutions to accelerate implementation of Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2063 in Africa"
